How it all began...
Inspired by the „International Year of Microcredit“, dedicated by the U.N. in 2005, we began to turn our attention towards microfinance. With our research our passion for microfinance grew and it soon became clear: this is where we wanted to become active.
Detailed studies and inspirational on-site visits of micro entrepreneurs and microfinance institutions soon followed. We also took part in microfinance conferences and trainings which enabled us to build up important contacts and partnerships with microfinance experts. We succeeded to win over - amongst others - the Armenian Dr. Vardanyan, longtime asset manager and author of numerous research works on developing countries and emerging markets in addition to the Swiss company Symbiotics SA as our investment adviser.
What started out as an ambitious idea in 2005 became reality with the launch of our microfinance fund in April 2006. Our vision has taken shape: 120 m Euros have been handed out so far which have enabled approx. 200,000 families in developing countries to escape poverty. By investing in microfinance you too can combat poverty in a meaningful and sustainable way.
